We are actively seeking an Instrumentation & Automation Technician at Hydroline, a Synergen company, located in Bossier City, Louisiana. This position is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated control systems used to support water transfer operations as well as delivering hydrographic surveys to customers. They will be responsible for understanding and adhering to company standards and expectations. Quality & Safety will be a focal point in all matters.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Function as the owner and subject matter expert of technology as it relates to automating Water Transfer operations:
- Improves equipment and system reliability and cost effectiveness through demonstrated equipment, component, and system ownership.
- Troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems.
- Troubleshoots instrument(s), electrical and mechanical problems, and performs root cause analysis in partnership with operations.
- Identify and recommend counter measures and systemic improvements to eliminate recurring problems and maximize operational reliability.
- Tests, calibrates, and troubleshoots digital and pneumatic controls and instruments such as pressure transducers, flow meters, tank level monitors, automated valves, and control panels.
- Provide technical support and training to field personnel to establish proficiency and standardization across each business location in core processes of the automation program.
- Serve as the primary contact between the company and third-party contractors who the company partners with to provide automation services and/or equipment.
- Maintain and source sufficient inventory of automation equipment to support forecasted operations schedules while also managing expenses associated with equipment rental.
- Function as the owner and subject matter expert of technology as it relates to hydrographic surveys:
- Conduct water body surveys
- Process data collected during field survey to produce deliverables for customers
- Maintain database of surveys
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Associates Degree in Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical Technology (or similar) required
- 2+ years of experience in automation and/or instrumentation required
- Familiarity and experience with SCADA systems
- Solid understanding of electrical systems
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong communication skills and be comfortable facilitating in-person training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 15% of the time to support other business locations as needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.
